Hi;
I'm a new subscriber to PS and find it a very good product however I continue to have issues with a link between the application and an Excel file.

I open PS and get data streaming with my stocklist available (about 30 stocks). I then open my excel file that was set up previously (and worked) that is linked to these 30 stocks. Excel asks first if i want to enable marcos, which i do, then it asks if i wish to update to linked files (aka PS) which i select yes.

I then get a message that says something like "can not access data source..." I select ok. Then a second message says, data source not available want to start PSM.exe? Y/n. I select yes and it give message that it can't find it or something.

This has gone on for a week now and I usually click cancel enough and it seems to finally work and gets past this part. Then the next problem starts.

My linked fields in Excel all show as REF values and the streamed data never makes it over. When it has worked properly it usually shows "n/a" cell values which are quickly updated to the streamed data. To fix this problem I have to delete all the "REF" errors and re-drag and drop the PS stocks back into the Excel file. Pain in my ass...tell ya.

Any help here would be appreciated.

First, I will say that Excel doesn't know how to start the program, so you should definitely say "no" when it asks. (BTW, the reason it asks for PSM.exe not PSS is that it's part of the DDE string that is in the cells.)

I'm using Excel 2003 over here and have no problems relinking DDE cells on restart, at least in my tests since I have no need to have it linked full time. I have no way to test with Excel 2000 so I don't know if there is a difference. In any case you should try stopping quotes in PSS before relinking with Excel, just in case there are timing issues with the data updates and DDE.
