We've just released Personal Stock Streamer 8 BETA which features CollabInvest, a free real-time collaboration extension built directly into the software.

With CollabInvest you can:

 - instantly send live updating tickers and streaming charts to your
   online peers.
 - keep lists of contacts and see when they are online.
 - engage groups of your peers in conversations.
 - share annotated charts much like a whiteboard.
 - conduct training seminars or hold investment club meetins.

CollabInvest(sm) accounts are free to PSS customers who have supported market data subscriptions, which in this case means Prophet.net accounts.

If you'd like to chat with us in realtime, download your own copy of PSS 8 BETA, log in, register for your own collabinvest account and join us in the Chat_with_the_Developers conference room.

I have now updated to this Beta version of PSS 8. I still cannot delete excess RSS feeds, and, worst of all, the add new transaction does not open. I can get the window to open by using the properties selection, but then I cannot enter a new transaction.

This is really causing me difficulties. Do you have an update ready yet?

Thanks,

Ellen

Okay. I rebooted 3 times and I can now enter a transaction...but, I cannot delete a split transaction made in error. I have rebooted to make sure that it wouldn't work as in my earlier problem, but it still won't allow me to delete the transaction.

Please let me know what 's wrong if you can. Also, I cannot login into collabinvest. I have entered a user name and password, but no way to get in yet.

Thanks,

Ellen

On the subject of CollabInvest please post a support request here:

http://www.personalstockstreamer.com/support/contact.ht...

and let us know the login id and password you're having trouble with and we'll check it out.

On the subject of the transaction, we'll need to look at your portfolio file. You'll want to email that to support at personalstockstreamer.com and reference this thread and we'll take a look at it.

I downloaded the beta version at home and the collabinvest worked just fine. However, when I installed it on my computer at work (which is behind a firewall) I was unable to log into collabinvest. Also, my streaming data feed, prophet.net, doesn't stream. The streaming status shows as yellow and the data seems to get updated about once a minute. I talked to prophet and they weren't aware of any problems. I have another application based on your PSS platform that gets streaming data just fine. Could this version have a problem with the proxy server (I am using the same settings as the "other" application). I also submitted this as a problem request, but I thought I would put it here to see if anyone else is having similar problems.

Do you happen to know what kind of proxy server your company uses?

What happens when you do the Network Test from the Quick Start wizard? (Help->QuickStart Wizard)?

I have no idea what kind of proxy server we use. However, the test worked fine. I am getting polling data from prophet.net, just not streaming. I am not sure why, since I can display streaming charts in my OptionsXpress account and they are powered by prophet. Also, I downloaded the previous version of PSS and it does the same thing. Check with Anatoly. He has been corresponding with my wife (mlary) about the same problem.

Are you using a java app on the optionsXpress site or are you running some desktop software of theirs?

It is their java app (streaming charts) powered by prophet. I didn't download anything.

Ok. Yea, that's a different backend than the prophetOCX control they have us use. If the control can't for whatever reason get a streaming connection, then it falls back to polling. We are setting all the proxy settings in the control correctly but sometimes it seems that it doesn't work right. They wouldn't allow us to write our own implementation of the protocol, so we have this closed source control.

We are hoping to have something to big to announce in 60 to 90 days with regard to another very reputable data backend that should work through all proxy firewalls.

As for the CollabInvest issue, that is our oversight and we are exploring ways to fix it. It's beta.

We stand corrected on the prophet OCX control. It looks like it was our bug after all.

After going through how we were calling it again, we did find an issue which we've corrected. It still needs some testing but it looks like the issue should be resolved with the next release.

Thanks for pointing that out!
